Tucker, Bayou lectures bring globally renowned professors to LSU Law Center on Sept. 5

Mark your calendars for a pair of lectures at the LSU Law Center on Thursday, Sept. 5, that will feature globally renowned professors. At 12:40 p.m. in the McKernan Auditorium, Professor Michele Graziadei of the University of Turin—Italy will deliver the 42nd John H. Tucker Jr. Lecture in Civil Law, presented by the the Center of Civil Law Studies. LSU Law 2019 graduate Anne Lanier honored with CLEA Outstanding Clinical Student Award

LSU Law 2019 graduate Anne Lanier was recently honored with the Clinical Legal Education Association Outstanding Student Award for her work at the Immigration Law Clinic as a volunteer, student clinician and research assistant/advanced student. Before Lanier was even enrolled at the Immigration Law Clinic, the Houston native volunteered to assist clinicians with an Adjustment of Status Clinic. Volunteers and student clinicians interviewed refugees, asylees and Cuban-entrants, prepared their applications and organized their documents in order to equip them to apply for permanent resident status (also referred to as a green card). 126 LSU Law students gain real-world experience through summer field placements

When Zachary Gonzalez entered the LSU Law Center in 2017, he didn’t envision pursuing a career in criminal law. But after spending two summers with the Palm Beach State Attorney’s Office in West Palm Beach, Florida, as part of the Summer Field Placement Program, Gonzalez now has his sights set on becoming a federal prosecutor in his native Florida after graduation. Gonzalez was among 126 LSU Law students who participated in the Summer Field Placement Program this year. LSU Law Dean Thomas Galligan, Jr. welcomed the LSU Law “Class of 2022” at the first day of a two-day orientation program on the LSU Law campus. Dean Galligan was joined by Dr. Stacia L. Haynie, LSU Executive Vice President and Provost; Andrea Carroll, LSU Law Associate Dean for Academic & Student Affairs; Jake Henry, Director of Admissions for the Law Center; and, numerous LSU Law faculty members and students.

LSU Law Thanks Volunteer Trial Ad Faculty for August 12 - 14 Program

The LSU Law Center would like to thank the faculty recruiting committee, section leaders and faculty members who are donating their time for the 2019 Trial Advocacy Program, Aug. 12 – 14. The Trial Advocacy Program gives third-year LSU Law students a “learn by doing” education that simulates actual trial skills. Students learn and practice under the experienced eyes of the select seminar faculty. Students role play and receive critiques from some of the nation’s leading experts in courtroom practices during the intensive three-day program. LSU Law Library selected as Government Publication Office preservation site

August 7, 2019

LSU Law Library Signs Preservation Steward Agreements with the GPO WASHINGTON, D.C. The LSU Law Center, Georgia Southern University Libraries, Syracuse University Libraries (New York), and Lether E. Frazar Memorial Library (Lake Charles , LA) have signed a Memorandum of Agreement with the U.S. Government Publishing Office (GPO) to become Preservation Stewards. Under the agreement, the LSU Law Library will become the permanent home of print copies of the Federal Register.
