48 students in Class of 2023 selected for Board of Advocates

Forty-eight LSU Law students in the Class of 2023 have been selected for membership on the 2022-2023 Board of Advocates, a student honor organization dedicated to the promotion and development of oral and written persuasive advocacy skills. Rising third-year law students are selected to membership on the Board of Advocates based on a holistic application that looks at a student’s success in the Law Center’s many different internal and external advocacy competitions, teams, and other skills development opportunities. Haag joins LSU Law Library staff as Collection maintenance and Circulation Supervisor

March 25, 2022

Amelia Haag has been appointed Collection Maintenance and Circulation Supervisor at the LSU Law Library, where she will maintain the physical collection and supervise student circulation assistants during the evening and weekend hours. Hagg earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in history from Southeastern Louisiana University. As a graduate student, she worked as an assistant archivist and as an exhibit curator in the Center of Southeast Louisiana Studies and Archives.

As you prepare for exams, be sure to take a look at the  West Study Aids.  This database will provide unlimited online access to hundreds of study aids, treatises, and audio lectures.  The study aids collection enables you to add your own notes and highlights, which are saved to your account. You can also access multiple-choice practice questions to help you prepare for exam questions. You will need to create a West Academic account.  This is different from your Westlaw account.

Dean’s Cup Moot Court Competition finals to take place at LSU Law on Monday, March 28

On Monday, March 28, at 6 p.m., two LSU Law students will compete for the highly coveted Dean’s Cup Moot Court Competition crystal trophy. The LSU Law community is invited to attend the final round of competition, which will take place in Robinson Courtroom at the Paul M. Hebert Law Center. The LSU Law community and public are invited to the Paul M. Hebert Law Center on Wednesday, March 30, for a presentation from Currey Cook, a prominent Lambda Legal attorney and LGBTQ+ advocate. Presented by the LSU Law OUTlaw student organization and Juvenile Defense Clinic, the free event will take place from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in Room 106. Air France General Counsel and LSU Law LLM alum interviews students for internship during visit to Paul M. Hebert Law Center

Darby joins LSU Law staff as Coordinator of Instructional and Professional Practice Support

Tina Darby has joined the LSU Law staff full time as Coordinator of Instructional and Professional Practice Support. In her role, Darby will provide administrative support to faculty members. Darby recently worked at LSU Law part time in the Law Clinic, and he has more than 20 years of experience in business management and administrative support. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Family and Consumer Science from Southern University.

The Louisiana Law Review Volume 82 Board of Editors has announced the 16 Junior Associates selected for publication in Volume 83. In announcing the selections, the board noted the decision process was extremely difficult this year because of the high number of well-written student pieces. Late Professor Emeritus Paul Baier remembered for his passion, wisdom, and warmth
