Environmental Law Moot Court team places second in national competition

The LSU Law National Environmental Law Moot Court Competition Team took second place overall at this year's competition on Feb. 24. The team — comprised of students Kelsey Balzli, Molly Reinhardt, and Patrick Voelker and coach Karen Blakemore — competed against more than 60 teams from around the country at Pace University in White Plains, N.Y., from Feb. 21-24. Baylor University won the competition. LSU Law also had four other teams competing over the weekend. First Circuit Court of Appeals to hear oral arguments at LSU Law

February 23, 2018

The Louisiana First Circuit Court of Appeal will hold oral arguments at the LSU Law Center on two days this February. The hearings will be conducted in the David Robinson Courtroom, located in room 201 on the second floor of the Paul M. Hebert Law Center, beginning at 9:30 a.m. on Feb. 27 and 28.  Visitors may pay to park in the nearby Union Square Parking Garage. On Feb. 27, Judges Higginbotham, Holdridge, and Penzato will hear arguments.  Presently, there are five cases on the docket that will be argued on this day. The public is invited to attend. If…

LSU Law student Caroline Donze wins Burton Award for writing

LSU Law student Caroline Donze was named one of the 15 winners of the Burton Award for excellence in legal writing at an announcement ceremony on Feb. 20 in Washington, D.C.Donze is the Production Editor for Louisiana Law Review’s Volume 78, and she won the award for her article Breaking the Seal of Confession: Examining the Constitutionality of the Clergy-Penitent Privilege in Mandatory Reporting Law.
