A team of four LSU Law students placed among the top eight teams in the U.S. at the Peter James Johnson National Civil Rights Trial Competition, which was held at the New York State Supreme Court for Nassau County in Mineola, New York, on Oct. 26-28.

The LSU Law team—Kaylin Jolivette, Alexander Logan, Anthony McDonald and Christopher Versak—finished the competition as National Quarterfinalists. They bested trial teams from Emory University Law School and the University of Texas at Austin School of Law in the preliminary rounds, before being defeated in a very close quarterfinal match against South Texas College of Law.

The LSU Law team is coached by Professor Jeff Brooks, with assistance in New York from Natalie Ebolum, a 2019 LSU Law graduate who is currently a judicial law clerk for the Superior Court of New Jersey.
