First Circuit Court of Appeals to hear oral arguments at LSU Law

The Louisiana First Circuit Court of Appeal will hold oral arguments at the LSU Law Center on two days this February.

The hearings will be conducted in the David Robinson Courtroom, located in room 201 on the second floor of the Paul M. Hebert Law Center, beginning at 9:30 a.m. on Feb. 27 and 28.  Visitors may pay to park in the nearby Union Square Parking Garage.

On Feb. 27, Judges Higginbotham, Holdridge, and Penzato will hear arguments.  Presently, there are five cases on the docket that will be argued on this day. The public is invited to attend. If the courtroom is at capacity, the arguments will be live-streamed in the McKernan Auditorium. The First Circuit’s official press release can be found here.

On Feb. 28, Judges Guidry, Pettigrew, and Crain will hear arguments. Judge Pettigrew, an LSU Law alumnus, will serve as panel chief on this day.  All LSU Law 1L students are required to attend oral arguments that day.  Presently, there are seven cases on the docket that will be argued on this day. The First Circuit’s official press release can be found here.

Court attendees may not bring phones, backpacks, or weapons of any kind into the courtroom. Laptops and purses are strongly discouraged as they slow the entry process.
