Natalie Palermo has been appointed Interim Director of the Law Library and Information Technology Services at LSU Law. Prior to joining the Law Library as an Assistant Librarian in 2011, Palermo served as a General Librarian at LSU Libraries for nearly 16 years.

In the role, Palermo will be responsible for overseeing the public service, instructional technology, and resource management activities of the Law Library in addition to technology support for the Law Center. She previously served as Interim Co-Director of the Law Library and Information Technology Services from 2016 to 2018. Prior to her most recent appointment, Palermo served as Assistant Director of Resource Management. She was promoted to Associate Librarian in October 2015 and was awarded tenure in July 2017.

“I am honored to serve in an interim capacity again. The experience I gained as an interim co-director from 2016 to 2018 has enabled me to hit the ground running,” Palermo said. “I am very fortunate to work with the awesome staff in the Library and ITS. Together, we will do our best to meet the needs of the Law Center community.”

Palermo has served on many committees crucial to Law Library operations through the years, including those for collection development, annual reviews, promotion and tenure, and search committees for a variety of positions. She holds professional memberships in the American Association of Law Libraries, the New Orleans Association of Law Libraries, and the Southeastern Chapter of the American Association of Law Libraries.

Palermo’s appointment comes after the departure of Todd Venie, who had served as Assistant Dean and Director for the Library and Information Technology Services at LSU Law since the start of 2018. Venie left at the end of June to join the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, where he will serve as Research Library Manager.
