Elysha Spriggins

A female student stands in an empty law classroomIn Elysha Spriggins’s eyes, law can be used as a means to leave an impression on the world, and that is what has inspired her to take on law school.

Spriggins chose to attend LSU Law knowing that its civil law program would surely prepare her for the Louisiana Bar Exam. In addition to civil law, Spriggins is intrigued by property law, real estate transactions, and mediation.

Spriggins’ plans for the future are simple in that she only wishes to pass the Bar Exam in 2019.

“I do hope to be able to work in a place that I love and to be able to practice an area of law that calls to me,” she said.

Her time at LSU has been nothing short of successful as she finished her past semester in the top 25 percent of her class. She is a member of the Board of Advocates and served as a member of the LSU Law ABA Arbitration Team in 2017. Furthermore, Spriggins has participated in the Opening Statement Competition and the Robert Lee Tullis Moot Court Competition.

These accomplishments made her an excellent candidate and consequent recipient of the Dean’s Scholarship.

“I’m more than grateful to be able to receive scholarship assistance to aid in my journey to learn the law and to become a competent Louisiana attorney,” she said. “A legal education is expensive, and being able to attend LSU Law without worrying about how to pay for my books or my tuition is a blessing.”

While just a few more classes separate her from graduation in 2019, Spriggins is already looking forward to earning the title of LSU Law alumnus

“I cannot wait until I am able to pay it forward for someone else,” she said. “LSU Law, its faculty, and its alumni give students the tools they need to conquer law school, and I am confident that those same tools help LSU alumni enter the legal field as competent, confident, and well-learned attorneys.”
