Nearly 40 LSU Law alums and 12 judges came out to the LSU Law Center to help 3L students in the annual Trial Advocacy and Persuasion Training Program.

The program, which was held Aug. 8-10, gave students the opportunity for hands-on trial experience as they presented opening and closing arguments; depositions; and direct and cross examinations. Students were also recorded and critiqued by faculty members and professional attorneys on their oral and non-verbal advocacy skills.
The program follows the methods pioneered by the National Institute for Trial Advocacy and includes role playing, critique, videotaping of performances, videotape critique, lectures and demonstrations by the faculty. This year’s program was substantially revised to comply with the new ABA standards for experiential learning, which will become mandatory in 2017.
