LL.M. News

Dr. Agustín Parise received his law degree from the University of Buenos Aires and a LL.M. in Comparative Law from the LSU Law Center. From 2006 to 2010, he worked as a Research Associate at the Center of Civil Law Studies, and is the Executive Editor of our Journal of Civil Law Studies. He received a Doctorate in Law from the University of Buenos Aires, and after a year in Germany (Max Plank Institut in Frankfort and Hamburg), he joined the faculty of the University of Maastricht School of Law. A widely published scholar of comparative law and legal history, Dr. Agustín Parise received a second doctorate from the University of Maastricht, having publicly defended, on November 10, 2015, his dissertation on “Ownership Paradigms in the Legislation of Louisiana, Chile, and Argentina (16th -20th century).”

Our sincere congratulations to Agustín Parise and his wife Julieta Marotta (LSU LL.M. 2007 and doctorate candidate at the University of Maastricht), with our best wishes for a great future: the LSU Law community is so proud of their achievement!

Karel Roynette, a graduate of the Versailles University Faculty of Law (2004) and LSU LL.M. graduate (2010) visited the LSU Law Center with family. Karel worked at the law firm of Warren Perrin in Lafayette in 2008-2009 before joining the LL.M. class of 2009-2010. He met Jamie, an English teacher from Lafayette, who became his wife. They moved to Paris where Karel is a lawyer at the Paris office of Clausen Miller and Jamie works as a teacher. Karel is a member of the Paris and New York Bars. His LL.M. paper was recently published as an article in the Journal of Civil Law Studies (Drawing the Line of the Scope of the Duty of Care in American Negligence and French Fault-Based Tort Liability).
