The LSU Law Center’s Advocacy Programs will hold a general interest meeting for all second and third-year students on Tuesday, August 19 at 12:40 pm.

The Law Center’s award-winning Advocacy Programs encompass a number of different appellate advocacy (“moot court”), trial advocacy, and alternative dispute resolution programs, and collectively provide students with a number of different extracurricular opportunities to develop their courtroom skills.  Program offerings include the Law Center’s six different internal advocacy competitions (the Opening Statement Competition, the Robert Lee Tullis Moot Court Competition, the Ira S. Flory Mock Trial Competitions, the Arbitration Competition, and the Chancellor’s Cup Senior Appellate Challenge), over twenty-five different traveling advocacy competition teams, the Moot Court and Trial Advocacy Boards, and a number of other skills development programs.

Professor Jeffrey Brooks, the Preis & Roy Director of Advocacy and Professional Practice, and representatives of the Moot Court and Trial Advocacy Boards will be present at the meeting to explain the various program offerings, describe how students can sign up to participate in the many Advocacy Program events scheduled for the fall semester, discuss the tryout processes for traveling competition teams, and otherwise answer questions.  Students can also visit the Advocacy Programs website, advocacy.law.lsu.edu, for information on this semester’s offerings, competition case files, and a calendar of upcoming events.

Questions about the interest meeting should be directed to Prof. Brooks at jeff.brooks@law.lsu.edu.
