Kara Gael and William B. Baggett Endowed Scholarship

Originally established in 2003 on the occasion of his 50th class reunion, Mr. Baggett has continued to build the fund for this substantial scholarship. Baggett was an All-American football player at LSU prior to his entry into the LSU Law Center; he was inducted into the LSU Football Hall of Fame in 1989. This endowed scholarship is awarded annually, with preference given to former LSU Tiger football players or other LSU varsity sports participants enrolled in the Paul M. Hebert Law Center. If the recipient(s) is from LSU football or varsity sports, the student(s) must have no remaining eligibilty under NCAA regulations. If there is no student from LSU football or varsity sports areas, any student may apply and the recipient will be determined at the discretion of the Law Center Scholarship Committee.

In 2010, Mr. Baggett and his wife, Kara Gael, gave an additional gift to the Law Center to support student scholarships. Their gift makes the Baggett Scholarship among the largest personally funded scholarships held by LSU Law. The Baggetts’ reside in Lake Charles.
