Lennie F. Perez Endowed Scholarship

The Lennie F. Perez Endowed Scholarship was established to honor the memory of Lennie F. Perez through the generosity of his wife, Dr. Margaret Gonzalez-Perez.

After graduating from Louisiana State University’s Paul M. Hebert Law School with his Juris Doctor in 1968, Mr. Perez worked at the U.S. Pentagon, followed by a decade as a highly successful prosecutor for the East Baton Rouge Parish District Attorney and thirty years of a distinguished legal career in private criminal defense litigation. Mr. Perez’ contributions to the legal profession have been recognized with numerous honors, including the Justice Albert Tate, Jr. Award for Lifetime Achievement from the Louisiana Criminal Defense Lawyers’ Association.

The recipient must be a full-time 1L student enrolled in the Law Center, with preference given to a student with a political science undergraduate degree or a demonstrated interest in political science. Financial need may be a consideration. If no student meets the preferred criteria, the Scholarship Committee shall have the discretion to award the scholarship to a deserving student.

This scholarship shall be withdrawn if the recipient fails to enroll or remain enrolled as a full-time student in the Law Center or the recipient is placed on disciplinary probation.
