"I am a third generation LSU Law graduate — my grandfather and father are LSU Law alums. After living in Virginia for four years, I was ready to move back to my home state. I only heard great things about LSU Law from practicing attorneys. Despite all the studying, I was pleasantly surprised by how much fun I had with a new group of friends."

Celeste Laborde

Class of 2008

LSU Law Student

Background: Received bachelor of arts in sociology from the University of Virginia; member of the University of Virginia Varsity Volleyball Team; interned at the White House in the First Lady’s Correspondence Office; attended the University of Lyon III School of Law as part of the Summer Lyon Program; graduated LSU Law magna cum laude; received CALI Award for Highest Grade in Constitutional Law I, Obligations, Labor Law, Seminar in Bioethics, Matrimonial Regimes, and Employment Discrimination.

Why Law School: Honestly, I went because I was unsure of what else I wanted to do, and I knew that having a law degree would benefit me in all my future endeavors.

Why LSU Law: After living in Virginia for four years, I was ready to move back to my home state. I only heard great things about LSU Law from practicing attorneys, so it was an easy choice.

The Faculty: LSU Law has many distinguished professors. One of the best things about the professors is that they always make themselves available to students for questions. Additionally, many faculty members have great senses of humor, which is evident from their yearly participation in Assault and Flattery.

The Curriculum: LSU Law provides a well-rounded curriculum, offering all the courses tested on the bar exam, as well as interesting electives in specialized areas of the law.  Moreover, LSU offers a summer abroad program in Lyon, France, which was my most memorable experience in the last three years.

Future Goals: Employed at Jones Walker in the Labor and Employment section in New Orleans.  Since I was able to take Employment Law and Employment Discrimination with Professor Bill Corbett, and Labor Law with Michael Garrard, I believe that I am prepared for my future.

Just for Fun: I travel as much as possible, go deep-sea fishing, and attend LSU sporting events.
