On June 5, LSU Law alum John P. Laborde (’49) received the inaugural Army Week NOLA Soldier for Life Award at the National World War II Museum in New Orleans. The award was presented when Bastion Community and the Army Week Association co-hosted the Joint Forces D-Day 70th Anniversary Ball at the Museum.
The LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center awarded degrees to 222 students during Commencement ceremonies held May 30 at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center. Robert “Bob” Barnett, the noted Washington, D.C. attorney who has represented Presidents Barack Obama, Bill Clinton, and George W. Bush, along with a host of other government officials and media and television celebrities, served as Commencement speaker. LSU Law alum and political author and commentator James Carville (’73) introduced Mr. Barnett.

If you ask LSU Law student Robert Hoke, he’ll tell you that Apprenticeship Week is, “Definitely something that every student should experience.” Hoke was one of over 130 LSU Law students who began the spring 2013 semester early to attend Apprenticeship Week, an innovative and unique new program of legal education at the Law Center. From January 6 through 10, the program provided students an opportunity to learn about the practical aspects of legal education in focused, task-oriented, small enrollment mini-courses.
