The LSU Law Center has been ranked the #8 Best Value Law School in the nation in the 2015 rankings released by The National Jurist magazine. LSU Law is the only Louisiana law school, public or private, included in the rankings.
“We are pleased to once again see the LSU Law Center recognized in national rankings,” said LSU President F. King Alexander. “In addition to being a best value, the Law Center was ranked as one of the top 10 underrated law schools in the country earlier this year. These two rankings look at outcome measures – the true measure of how well students are doing post-graduation with the bar exam, obtaining a job and the amount of debt they accrue. Our Law Center is one of the best in the nation regarding student outcomes, and it’s a testament to the hard work of our faculty, staff and students on campus.”
The rankings are designed to identify those law schools where graduates have excellent chances of passing the state bar examination and obtaining legal employment without taking on large debt, according to the publication.

The formula used by The National Jurist considers tuition levels, cost of living, student indebtedness, employment rate, and bar passage rates. The LSU Law Center strives to provide an excellent legal education at low cost, leading to bar exam passage and jobs.”
LSU Law students traditionally achieve the state’s highest bar examination passage rate, and employment numbers for the school have remained strong over the years. According to results released in October 2014 by the Committee on Bar Admissions of the Louisiana Supreme Court, LSU Law students achieved the state’s highest bar passage rate. For the Class of 2014, 94 percent of LSU Law graduates were employed as of 10 months after graduation, with 98 percent reporting. Some 81 percent of the graduates were employed in positions where bar passage was required, and an additional 11 percent were employed in positions where a J.D. was an advantage.
