LSU President F. King Alexander welcomed the LSU Law Class of 2018 to campus on Thursday, August 14. The class of 172 students is the first class to enter LSU Law under the realigned structure with the main campus.

Interim Co-Dean, Bill Corbett, introduced President Alexander who urged the class to use their legal knowledge to positively influence society. “You’re in the social mobility business,” said President Alexander. “Keep your sights high…You, as lawyers, help to correct the 90% of politics and finance that may go wrong. It’s your role to determine whether politics and finances are being equitably and fairly managed.”

Some 55% of the class is female, while males make up 45% of the class. Entering students come from 19 states, including Louisiana, and represent 56 different colleges and universities. Louisiana residents make up 76% of the class, while 24% are from out of state.
