Beaird Appointed Interim Director of the LSU Law Library

A. Michael Beaird has been appointed interim library director at the Paul M. Hebert Law Center for the 2008-2009 academic year, effective June 1. Beaird was appointed on the recommendation of a search committee consisting of Professor Wendell Homes, Vice Chancellor Glenn Morris, and librarians Charlene Cain and Melanie Sims.

Beaird comes to LSU after having previously worked in a similar capacity at UNLV. He has served as the law librarian at the University of Mississippi and as law library director and tenured associate professor of law at the University of Arkansas/Little Rock School of Law. Beaird also served as vice president of a major legal publisher for 15 years.

Beaird received his bachelor’s degree in 1969 from the University of Texas, his J.D. in 1974 from the University of Oklahoma, and his master’s in law librarianship in 1975 from the University of Washington.
