Professor Jeffrey Brooks received the 2015 Steven Schneebaum Award at the White & Case International Rounds of the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition that was recently held in Washington, DC. The Jessup Competition is the world’s largest moot court competition, with participants from over 550 law schools in more than 80 countries. The Schneebaum Award is presented to an administrator of one of the qualifying rounds of the competition held around the world.

The Louisiana Law Review recently published Volume 75, Issue 3. Issue 3 includes four professional pieces covering Louisiana future advance mortgages, the role of traditional legal institutions in law reform, changes in the Louisiana law of pledge, and the private right of action under Louisiana securities law. Issue 3 also features four student pieces discussing Louisiana Mineral Code article 190, hydraulic fracturing and subsurface trespass in Louisiana, dedications to public use in Louisiana, and the Due Process and Equal Protection Clauses of the Fourteenth Amendment. Professor Keith Hall’s article, The Application of Oil & Gas Lease Implied Covenants: Old Meets New, was cited multiple times by the Ohio Court of Appeals in its opinion in Yoder v. Artex Oil Co.

Professor Michael Coenen's article, Combining Constitutional Clauses, has been accepted for publication in the University of Pennsylvania Law Review.

Professor Blake Hudson received the Nathalie Molton Gibbons Young Achiever's Award from the University of Montevallo.

The LSU Law Center will host the U.S. Army War College Eisenhower Series College Program on Wednesday, April 15, 2015, at 12:40 p.m. in the McKernan Auditorium at the Law Center. This is the fifth year the Law Center has hosted the U.S. Army War College on its campus. The event is free and open to the public.
April 1, 2015, begins a new era for the LSU Law Center as it officially realigns with LSU. The LSU Board of Supervisors approved the realignment of the LSU Law Center as an academic unit with LSU during its March 20, 2015 meeting.
The LSU Law Student Bar Association (SBA) will host the annual Louisiana Legislative Preview on Wednesday, April 1, at 5:30 p.m. in the McKernan Auditorium at the LSU Law Center. The speakers include Representative Chris Broadwater (’02), Representative Walt Leger and Senator Elbert Guillory.
The LSU Law Center’s John R. Brown National Admiralty Law Moot Court Competition “Purple” team of Ahmed Mohamed, Alexandra Porubsky and Phillip Smith won First Place and were named National Champions of the Admiralty competition, which was held March 19-21 in Charleston, South Carolina.
The LSU Black Law Students Association (BLSA) and the LSU Law Center recently welcomed the Honorable Brian Jackson, Chief Judge of the U.S. Middle District Court, as the final speaker of the semester for BLSA’s Leadership Lecture Series.
During its March meeting, the LSU Board of Supervisors approved the realignment of the Paul M. Hebert Law Center as an academic unit with LSU, effective Wednesday, April 1.
