Professor Keith Hall’s article, The Application of Oil & Gas Lease Implied Covenants: Old Meets New, was cited multiple times by the Ohio Court of Appeals in its opinion in Yoder v. Artex Oil Co.

Professor Michael Coenen's article, Combining Constitutional Clauses, has been accepted for publication in the University of Pennsylvania Law Review.

Professor Blake Hudson received the Nathalie Molton Gibbons Young Achiever's Award from the University of Montevallo.

Professor Hector Linares served as faculty for the Louisiana Public Defender Board's recent Juvenile Defender Training. He presented on the topics of Families in Need of Services and Developing a Theory of the Case. The training was held in Baton Rouge.

On February 2, Professor Philip Hackney took part in a conversation about the IRS and Nonprofits on "The Source," a Texas Public Radio Program.

Professor Robert Lancaster recently gave two presentations at the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts – Louisiana Annual Conference: Transformative, Facilitative, and Evaluative Mediation Models and Ethical Considerations in Family Mediation. Students from the LSU Civil Mediation Clinic assisted by serving as actors in a mediation role play that Professor Lancaster used to demonstrate different mediation styles.

The LSU Law Student Bar Association (SBA) will host the annual Louisiana Legislative Preview on Wednesday, April 1, at 5:30 p.m. in the McKernan Auditorium at the LSU Law Center. The speakers include Representative Chris Broadwater (’02), Representative Walt Leger and Senator Elbert Guillory.
The LSU Law Center’s John R. Brown National Admiralty Law Moot Court Competition “Purple” team of Ahmed Mohamed, Alexandra Porubsky and Phillip Smith won First Place and were named National Champions of the Admiralty competition, which was held March 19-21 in Charleston, South Carolina.
The LSU Black Law Students Association (BLSA) and the LSU Law Center recently welcomed the Honorable Brian Jackson, Chief Judge of the U.S. Middle District Court, as the final speaker of the semester for BLSA’s Leadership Lecture Series.
During its March meeting, the LSU Board of Supervisors approved the realignment of the Paul M. Hebert Law Center as an academic unit with LSU, effective Wednesday, April 1.
Welcome back! Graduates from the classes of 1975, 1985, 1990, 1995, 2005 & 2010 will celebrate their respective class reunions on October 23-24. The reunion weekend kicks off Friday, October 23, with a free Professionalism & Ethics CLE at 2pm at the Law Center. Reunite with old friends that evening from 7pm-10pm for a reception and buffet dinner at the Hilton Capitol Center. On Saturday, October 24, drop by the All-Alumni Tailgate on the front steps of the Old Law Building before cheering on the Tigers!
Five LSU Law students recently experienced what it is like to prepare for—and ultimately argue—before the Louisiana Supreme Court. It was an opportunity that many seasoned lawyers never experience, according to Professor Robert Lancaster, Director of the LSU Law Clinical Education Program. The students, Ben Aguinaga, Alexier Barbour, Ashley Jackson, Victoria Jowers and Lance Neyland spent this semester working on the appeal in the case of State ex rel. Herbert Nicholson, Petitioner-Appelant v. State of Louisiana, Respondent-Appelle. Their work culminated on March 16, as Aguinaga presented the oral argument before the Louisiana Supreme Court.
