W323 Room Monitor![]() This is the monitor located in Room W323. The monitor can be connected to a laptop in order to project the image onto the screen for presentation purposes. In order to connect a laptop to the monitor you will need one of two cables, a VGA cable or an HDMI cable. A VGA cable will be provided in the room itself while an HDMI cable may be obtained from Instructional Technology if necessary. ![]() Here is a picture of the VGA cable. Note the smaller 1/8 inch audio cable attached to it. You will need that portion for enabling sound. ![]() Here is a picture of an HDMI cable. To connect a laptop to the monitor, first locate the cable panel on the wall near the monitor. ![]() You will need to connect either the VGA and audio or HDMI cable (NOT BOTH) to the panel. ![]() Here is a picture of the VGA cable connected to the panel. ![]() Here is a picture of the HDMI cable connected to the panel. Once the cable is connected to the panel, connect the other end to your laptop. The VGA or HDMI connectors will vary in position depending on the laptop. For audio using the VGA cable it is necessary to connect the audio cable to the headphone jack of your laptop. ![]() Here is the audio cable connected to the laptop. ![]() Here is the HDMI connector. ![]() Here is the HDMI cable connected to the laptop. Note that an HDMI cable carries both audio and video so there is no need for an audio cable to be connected to the headphone jack. Also note that HDMI connections are a newer addition to laptops so if you have an older laptop you may not have the option to connect to the monitor via an HDMI cable. Once connected, press the proper button on the control panel located to the left of the monitor. If you have connected your laptop with a VGA cable, press the VGA button. If you have connected it with and HDMI cable, press the HDMI button. ![]() Here is an image of the W323 control panel where the VGA and HDMI buttons are located. ![]() Once the monitor is on, the image from your laptop should be displayed on the screen. |
