Research Appointments
Research Appointments are customized sessions for LSU Law students offering a one-on-one session with a reference librarian, covering any needs or questions you may have about any type of legal research. Appointments are scheduled in advance for a mutually agreeable time, and generally last 30-60 minutes. For example:
Review of the Basics
Need to review an aspect of basic legal research that you don't understand? Topics might include something as basic as statutory law or perhaps administrative law research involving updating regulations or working with legislative history.
WestLaw or Lexis Refresher
Want some advanced legal research tips? Need a Westlaw or Lexis refresher by an independent information specialist, one of your reference librarians?
Internet and Legal Research
Need to know how the Internet is being used in the practice of law or what useful websites are available for legal research?
Specific Research Problems
Need to research a paper or brief a legal point in an area of the law with which you are not familiar?
Preparation for Researching in Other Jurisdictions
Need a primer on researching law in a particular jurisdiction for a summer job or first job?
We"ll put together a session to fit your individual needs or questions. If you are interested at any time throughout the year, simply complete a request form at the Reference Desk, or email your request to the reference desk at reference@law.lsu.edu.
