How do I Get Materials That Are Not Owned by the Law Library?

1) First check the LSU Libraries catalog to see if the materials you need are owned by them. Using your LSU ID card, you may borrow materials by visiting Middleton Library or other LSU Libraries. LSU Libraries also maintains an extensive online database selection which may include the materials you need. Visit their Indexes and Databases page for more information. To login to a particular database you will need to enter your 17 digit Tiger Card ID number or your 9 digit LSU ID number and your PIN on the Proxy Server Logon page. Your ID numbers are on your LSU ID card (Tiger Card). See LSU Libraries My Account for more information about your PIN.

2) If the materials you need are not available through LSU Libraries, then you may request an Interlibrary Loan by filling out the ILL form online or at the Reference Desk.

  • Record as much of the citation information for the item as you know. This includes: the title of the work, author/editor, publisher, date and place of publication, edition and ISBN. If you are requesting a journal article, you will also need to know the article's title and author, volume and issue number of the journal, month, year, pages, and ISSN.
  • You will be notified by email when the requested item has arrived.

Note that Interlibrary Loan service is only available to LSU Law faculty, students, and staff. Other patrons may visit a library with which they have borrowing privileges for a similar service.
