| Judicial Career of Chief Justice Catherine D. “Kitty” Kimball Celebrated |

LSU Law Center Chancellor Jack M. Weiss joined fellow members of the Supreme Court of Louisiana Historical Society and justices of the Louisiana Supreme Court on March 12, 2012 to honor and celebrate the judicial career of Chief Justice Catherine D. “Kitty” Kimball. The highlight of the ceremony was the unveiling of a portrait of the justice.
Chief Justice Kimball is in her 29th year as a member of the judiciary. Before joining the Supreme Court she served on the 18th Judicial District Court. Kimball is a 1970 graduate of the LSU Law Center. In 1999, she was honored as the Distinguished Alumnae of the Year. Kimball served as a member of the Law Center’s Board of Trustees from 1998-2001, a Visiting Professor for the 2008 summer program, and a commencement speaker in May 2001. ...

| Annual Chancellor’s Council Dinner Features Lawyer and Journalist Adam Liptak |

Lawyer and journalist Adam Liptak was the guest speaker at the annual LSU Law Center Chancellor’s Council dinner that was held at the Hilton Baton Rouge Capitol Center on March 2, 2012. Mr. Liptak, who covers the U.S. Supreme Court for The New York Times, discussed cases pending before the Court. Mr. Liptak also spoke with students and the LSU community earlier in the day in a special event hosted at the LSU Law Center.
