The Trial Advocacy Board will hold a “boot camp” workshop for all interested 2Ls and 3Ls on Sunday, August 24th from 2:00 to 5:00 pm in Room 110. This workshop will be taught by Professor Brooks and the attorney coaches of the Law Center’s external teams, and will provide students with a foundation in trial techniques, including opening statements, closing arguments, direct and cross examinations, common objections, and more. The boot camp workshop is intended for students who plan to participate in the 2014 Opening Statement Competition, the fall and spring Ira S. Flory Mock Trial Competitions, the Arbitration Competition, and/or those who plan to try out for trial advocacy external (traveling) teams.
The Board will be utilizing last year’s fall Flory case file, State of Louisiana v. Jonah Ryan, for the workshop. Participants are encouraged to skim the case file in advance of the workshop.
Students with questions about the workshop can email the Trial Advocacy Board at firstname.lastname@example.org or Professor Brooks at email@example.com. The program will be recorded for those who are unable to attend.
