Leon J. Reymond, Jr. ('69) - of the New Orleans office of Liskow & Lewis, has received the 2011 Pope John Paul II Award.  This award is presented annually to a deserving layperson or Deacon who resides in the Archdiocese of New Orleans and who exhibits inspirational examples of Christian stewardship.  The honoree must be a Roman Catholic with an outstanding record of volunteer service in the Catholic community; of high moral character; and exemplary values.

Paul M. Hebert, Jr. ('70) - of Breazeale, Sachse & Wilson's Baton Rouge office, has been selected by his peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America 2011 for Family Law.

James Dore', 1973James P. Dore' ('73) - of Kean Miller's Baton Rouge office, was recently admitted to the American College of Trial Lawyers.

Ben Mount ('74) -  of the Lake Charles firm of Bergstedt and Mount, was recently sworn in for a one-year term as the chairman of the LSU Board of Supervisors.  Mount has been a member of the Board since 2006.

David Cassidy ('75) - of Breazeale, Sachse & Wilson, was recognized in Chambers USA - America's Leading Lawyers for Business for Louisiana for Corporate/M&A: Tax.

Judge Jay Zainey ('75) - with the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana, was recognized as one of five recipients of the 2011 American Bar Associatation Pro Bono Publico Award presented by the American Bar Association's Standing Committee on Pro Bono and Public Service.  The awards honor individuals or organizations in the legal community that enhance the human dignity of others by improving or delivering volunteer legal service to the poor or disadvantaged.

Judge Roy S. Payne ('77) - a partner in the Shreveport firm of Gregorio, Gregory & Payne, was selected to fill the the position of magistrate judge in the Eastern District of Texas.  Payne had previously served as U.S. magistrate judge in the Western District of Louisiana from 1987-2005.

J. Michael Parker ('78) - of Taylor Porter, has been selected by his peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America 2012.

Dolores M. Williams ('78) - Assistant City Attorney for the Cithy of Wilmington, North Carolina, was recently elected President of the New Hanover County Bar Association, Inc.

Vicki Crochet, 1980Vicki M. Crochet ('80) - of Taylor Porter, has been selected by her peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America 2012.  Crocket was also recognized by Chambers USA - America's Leading Lawyers for Business in the areas of Labor & Employment.

Louis M. Phillips ('80) - of Gordon, Arata, McCollam, Duplantis & Eagan's Baton Rouge office, has been elected by the Board of Regents of the American College of Bankruptcy to serve as a 2012 Fifth Circuit Fellow.

Marie Yeates ('80) - managing partner of the Houston office of Vinson & Elkins LLP, was selected by Texas Lawyer magazine as one of the top 20 Texas women lawyers and appellate attorneys profiled in their special section, "Winning Women."  Marie, a leader in appellate law, has presented 98 oral arguments in federal and state appellate courts across the country.  She has been lead or co-counsel in nearly 200 other appellate cases.

Gregory D. Frost ('81) - of Breazeale, Sachse & Wilson's Baton Rouge office, has been selected by his peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America 2011 for Government Relations Practice.

Urquhart, Jr. ('84) - founding partner of the New Orleans firm Irwin, Fritchie, Urquhart & Moore, was elected President-Elect of the International Association of Defense Counsel for the 2011-2012 term.  The IADC is an invitation-only professional association for corporate and insurance defense lawyers around the world.

Stephan Kinsella ('91) - general counsel with Applied Optoelectronics, and Senior Fellow with the Ludwig von Mises Institute, and Mr. Bryan Garner, have published the Louisiana Civil Code Law Dictionary.  It defines every word and phrase contained in the index to the Louisiana Civil Code, plus many more in clear and concise language and provides current citations to the relevant statutes, code articles, and cases.

Thomas L.  Hutchinson ('92) - of the Oregon firm Bullivant, Houser & Bailey PC, has been named a Super Lawyer in Business Litigation.

Patrick Ragan Richard ('93) -  of Phelps Dunbar's Baton Rouge office, has been selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America 2012 for Banking and Finance Law; Franchise Law and Real Estate Law.

Angela W. Aldolph ('94) - has joined the Baton Rouge office of Kean Miller as Special Counsel.  She practices in the municipal finance, tax litigation, and commercial litigation groups.

Edmund J. Giering, IV ('94) - General Counsel of the Baton Rouge Area Foundation, was appointed by Dean Eli Jones to serve on the E. J. Ourso College of Business Dean's Advisory Council, where he serves as a member of the Endowment Committee. The DAC exists to promote and improve the E. J. Ourso College.

2000s

Christopher Couch ('00) - of the New Orleans firm Couch, Conville & Blitt, was selected by the New Orleans Regional Institute, a partnership with Greater New Orleans, Inc., to participate in its twelfth class.  The program is designed to promote regional collaboration by providing a network of relationships, leadership skill development, and a forum for the exchange of diverse viewpoints.

Cynthia Cole, 2001Cynthia Cole ('01) - has joined the Dallas firm of Bell, Nunnally & Martin as senior counsel in the bankruptcy and restructuring areas.

Michelle Craig, 2002Michelle Craig ('02) - of the New Orleans firm of Adams and Reese, was one of five outstanding female African-American attorneys honored at the Urban League of Greater New Orleans' Gala, held July 16th at the Hilton Riverside Hotel.  Craig was named Partner earlier this year at Adams and Reese after joining the firm in 2007.  She serves on the Labor and Employement team representing clients such as schools, fast food companies, offshore companies, home improvement retailers, entrepreneurs and other small businesses.

Travis Wilkinson ('03) - has joined Lugenbuhl, Wheaton, Peck, Rankin & Hubba's New Orleans office.  His area of practice focuses on insurance coverage and litigation with a particular focus on occupational disease litigation.  Mr. Wilkinson also handles a number of insurance defense matters.

Rene Albert Louapre IV, 2007Rene Albert Louapre, IV ('07) - has joined the New Orleans office of McGlinchey Stafford as an Associate.  Mr. Louapre practices in the business law section of the firm.

Chais Sweat, 2007Chais Sweat ('07) - has joined the Dallas law office of Dykema.  Sweat's area of practice are in general commercial litigation. He is experienced in handling matters involving creditors in commercial and consumer collections, and consumer protection litigation.

Melissa Grand, 2009Melissa Grand ('09) - of Adams & Reese's Baton Rouge office, has been selected to the Board of Directors of the Boys Hope Girls Hope of Baton Rouge, which helps academically capable and motivated children-in-need to become outstanding men and women by providing value-centered opportunities and education though college.

Sarah K. Weissman ('09) - has joined the Baton Rouge office of Kean Miller as an Associate.  She practices in the ligitation and toxic tort groups.
