John L. Creed, ('49) is the Retired President of Creed Rice Co., Inc. (International Grain Brokers Houston, Texas). Although John never practiced law, he is celebrating his 60th anniversary of law school graduation.

Arthur R. Carmody, Jr. ('52) has been continually associated with the firm of Wilkinson, Carmody & Gilliam, formerly Wilkinson, Lewis & Wilkinson in the practice of law in Shreveport. He was inducted into the American College of Trial Lawyers in 1978; in the Best Lawyers in America for the last ten years; honored in receiving the Alumni Achievement Award of Fordham University in 1995 and as president of the Shreveport Bar Association, the Sons of the American Revolution (Galvez Charter), Red River Public Radio and Loyola College Prep, as well as inducted into the Knights of Malta. For 20 years, Carmody has written a monthly column on legal history for the Shreveport Bar Review. He has eight children and 22 grandchildren and says it is rewarding to now have more time to be involved with them and this interest.

W. Charles Hollier ('56), now retired; formerly senior partner in Hollier, Ringuet, Daniels & Collier, Lafayette; continues to reside in Lafayette.

Charles Henry Ryan ('58), retired from the Boles law firm in Monroe, LA, has been living "happily" in Oaxaca, Mexico since 1998.

Edward (Ed) B. Cloutman, III, ('69), Law Offices of Ed Cloutman, Dallas, Texas, Board Certified by the State Bar of Texas in the area of Labor and Employment, 1975 to present, was recognized by Super Lawyers magazine and Texas Monthly magazine as a Texas "super lawyer" in the area of Labor and Employment for the years 2003-2009 and by The Best Lawyers in America in the area of Labor and Employment for the same years.

Warren A. Perrin ('72), Perrin & Associates Architecture, a full service architectural firm, is pleased to announce the relocation of its new office at 251 La Rue France, Lafayette, LA 70508.

John T. Nesser III (’73), currently serves as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of J. Ray McDermott, S.A. He is responsible for the oversight of all of McDermott’s Offshore Oil & Gas Construction segment’s global operations. Prior to that, he served as Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative and Legal Officer for McDermott International, Inc. – the McDermott parent company. He was elected Sr. Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of McDermott International as of January 1, 2000, and elected Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary in February, 2001, at which time he assumed responsibility for all risk management and insurance matters for the Company. He joined McDermott in October, 1998, as Associate General Counsel. Prior to joining McDermott, he served as a managing partner of Nesser, King & LeBlanc, a New Orleans law firm, which he co-founded in 1985.  Mr. Nesser also serves on the Board of Directors of Seahawk Drilling, Inc.

John W. deGravelles (‘74) was named a Louisiana Super Lawyer for 2010 in the area of Personal Injury Plaintiff. He was recently named a Fellow in the trial lawyers’ honorary society, Litigation Counsel of America. In addition, deGravelles was invited to lecture at a seminar on The Mediation Process sponsored by the Bar Association of Piraeus and Thessaloniki, Greece. The seminar will be held in Thessaloniki, Greece November 5, 6 and 7, 2009.

Charles J. Ballay ('76), District Attorney of the 25th Judicial District, Plaquemines Parish, and a member of the law firm of Ballay, Braud & Colon, located in Belle Chasse, LA.

David S. Kelly (’76), Bradley Murchison Kelly & Shea LLC, was recognized in The Best Lawyers in America 2010 in the area of Railroad Law; he was also recognized in Louisiana Super Lawyers 2010 for the areas of Civil Litigation Defense, Transportation/Maritime, and Class Action/Mass Torts.

Malcolm S. Glen Chidester ('83), U. S. Navy, Judge Advocate General's Corps, Capt. Chidester was recalled to active duty as Regional Disability Counsel for the gulf coast at Naval Air Station Pensacola Florida.

R. David Wheat ('88), Thompson & Knight LLP, was recognized in The Best Lawyers in America 2010 for Tax Law, in Chambers USA 2009 for Tax Law, in Texas Super Lawyers 2009 for Tax, and Who’s Who Legal: Texas 2009 for Corporate Tax. In Texas Super Lawyers 2009, Mr. Wheat was also named among the Top 100 Overall and the Top 100 Dallas/Fort Worth Region. He was also listed as one of the “Best Business Lawyers in Dallas” in the Tax practice area by D Magazine in 2009.

John Jerry Glas ('96), Deutsch, Kerrigan & Stiles, was awarded the LSBA's 2009 Pro Bono Publico Award and the FBA's 2009 Camille Gravel Public Service Award for obtaining a life sentence for an inmate on Angola's death row after eight years of pro bono representation.

Jennifer R. Lindsey ('99), Kane Russell Coleman and Logan, PC, was named by Law & Politics as an outstanding young lawyer in 2009 Texas Rising Stars magazine, a designation given to lawyers under 40 who are viewed by their colleagues as preeminent in their respective practice areas; also published in Texas Monthly and online at superlawyers.com.

Barbara Bourgeois Ormsby ('01), a senior attorney with Forman Perry Watkins Krutz & Tardy LLP, was a panelist on the topic of "Staying Hired: Everything Young Lawyers Need To Know But Are Afraid to Ask" at the 2009 American Bar Association Annual Meeting in Chicago.

Todd D. Keator ('02), Thompson & Knight LLP, was recognized in Texas Rising Stars 2009 in the area of Tax.  He is also a 2009 Nolan Fellow for the American Bar Association Section of Taxation.

Garrett Sanders Callaway ('07), Watson, Blanche, Wilson & Posner, clerked for two years with Judge R. Michael Caldwell (19th JDC) and started with WBWP in June 2009.
